There are many ways to travel the world.

You can stay in hotels, follow crowded sightseeing routes, or board giant cruise ships with thousands of passengers. But for some people, travel is not only about reaching a destination — it is about how the journey itself feels.

That is what drew me toward sailing in the first place.

There is something very different about waking up surrounded by the sea, moving between islands at your own pace, discovering places that are difficult to reach by land, and experiencing destinations from the water rather than from crowded tourist streets.

But while working in the yacht charter industry, I also realized something important:

Many people are fascinated by the idea of a yacht vacation, yet very few truly understand what their options actually are.

Some assume yacht charters are only for the ultra-wealthy.Others think sailing holidays are too complicated or inaccessible. And many people simply never discover that there is a middle ground between renting a private superyacht and boarding a massive cruise ship.

That middle ground is exactly why YACHT WITH US was created.

Why does booking a yacht vacation often feel confusing or out of reach?

For many people, the idea of sailing around islands on a beautiful yacht sounds incredible in theory — but intimidating in reality.

When most people search for yacht charters online, they quickly run into a wall of industry jargon, complicated pricing, luxury marketing, and websites that feel designed for millionaires rather than normal travelers.

And to be fair, private crewed yacht charters can be expensive.

Before founding YACHT WITH US, I worked as a yacht charter broker, helping clients organize fully crewed yacht vacations around the world. These experiences are genuinely amazing — private chef, professional crew, stunning yachts, complete freedom to explore islands and coastlines at your own pace.

But there is one important reality that doesn't make this type of vacation mainstream:

Chartering an entire crewed yacht usually starts at around $20,000 per week, and often much more depending on the yacht and destination. The most extravagant yacht charters aboard luxury superyachts can cost $3,000,000 per week and more.

Of course, there are cheaper ways to rent a yacht.

For example, experienced sailors can rent smaller bareboat yachts or catamarans without a skipper and navigate themselves. In some destinations, this can be a relatively affordable option.

But bareboat chartering also comes with responsibilities and limitations that many first-time travelers do not realize at the beginning.

In most cases, you need previous sailing experience and a sailing license for majority of destinations. You are responsible for navigating the yacht, docking, anchoring, route planning, weather decisions, and the safety of everyone onboard.

You also usually need to leave a substantial security deposit, which can easily reach five of ten thousand dollars.

And if you are renting smaller yachts at lower price points, comfort levels can vary significantly. Many budget-friendly bareboat catamarans and sailing yachts may not have air conditioning, often feature very small cabins — sometimes barely larger than the bed itself — and may include shared bathrooms.

There is also a practical side to bareboat chartering that many first-time travelers do not think about. If something stops working onboard, you are usually responsible for dealing with it. You may end up waiting for a repair team instead of enjoying your vacation. Even something as simple as a broken fridge can quickly affect the overall experience of a yacht holiday.

For experienced sailors, that can absolutely be part of the adventure.

But for many travelers, that is not the relaxing yacht holiday they imagined.

At the same time, I kept meeting people who loved the idea of sailing.

They wanted to wake up in hidden bays. Swim in turquoise water before breakfast. Visit coastal towns without constantly packing and unpacking. Experience island hopping in a slower, more personal way.

But they did not necessarily need an entire yacht to themselves.

That gap is one of the main reasons YACHT WITH US was created.

“Many people dream about sailing — but very few realize there is a way to experience it without chartering an entire yacht.”

What exactly is a cabin yacht charter?

A cabin charter is a different way to experience a yacht vacation.

Instead of renting the entire yacht privately, you book your own cabin onboard a fully crewed yacht and share the experience with a small group of travelers (from 6 to 50 travellers per yacht depending on the yacht charter you book).

You still get:

  • a professional skipper and crew,

  • carefully planned itineraries,

  • island hopping,

  • life at sea,

  • meals onboard,

  • and the atmosphere of a real yacht charter.

But without needing to organize a large private group or pay the full yacht cost yourself.

In many ways, cabin charters sit somewhere between a private yacht charter and a small boutique cruise — but they feel very different from large cruise ships.

There are no thousands of passengers. No crowded buffet halls. No lines to get on and off the ship.

It is slower. Smaller. More personal.

You spend more time connected to the sea itself rather than simply traveling across it.

“Your yacht becomes your floating hotel. You unpack once — and the scenery changes around you.”

Why are cabin charters still such a hidden gem?

Honestly, because most people simply do not know they exist.

When people think about yacht vacations, they usually imagine one of two things:

  • ultra-luxury private yachts for millionaires or celebrities,

  • or massive cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers.

Cabin charters quietly exist somewhere in between.

And in many cases, they offer one of the most rewarding ways to travel.

You can experience authentic island hopping without dealing with ferry schedules, airport transfers between islands, or changing hotels every few days.

Your yacht becomes your floating hotel.

You unpack once. The scenery changes around you.

One morning you wake up in a quiet bay. The next evening you are dining in a historic coastal town. A day later you are snorkeling in crystal-clear water accessible only by boat.

For many guests, it completely changes the way they think about travel.

“Cabin charters quietly exist somewhere between private yachts and cruise ships — and that is exactly what makes them special.”

Who is yacht travel actually for?

One of the biggest misconceptions in the industry is that yacht travel is only for wealthy retirees, millionaires, celebrities, or one in a lifetime experience for people celebrating major milestones.

In reality, cabin charters attract a surprisingly wide mix of travelers.

Couples. Solo travelers. Groups of friends. Honeymooners. People celebrating birthdays, bachelor or han parties, graduations, corporate retreats. People simply looking for something different from another standard hotel vacation.

You also do not need sailing experience.

Many guests step onboard for the first time having never sailed before.

What they usually discover is that yacht travel is less about luxury in the traditional sense — and more about freedom, atmosphere, and access to places most travelers never properly experience.

“Yacht travel is not only about luxury. Often, it is about freedom, movement, and experiencing places differently.”

What are the best cabin charter destinations?

There is no single “best” destination because it depends entirely on what kind of experience you are looking for.

Some people want history, culture, and charming coastal towns.

Others want remote islands, tropical scenery, and water that almost does not look real.

That is why we focus on carefully selected destinations rather than trying to offer everything everywhere.

If you enjoy discovering historic coastal towns, local tavernas, and Mediterranean culture, then destinations like:

are some of the best yacht charter regions in the world.

The sailing infrastructure is excellent, the routes are beautiful, and every island feels slightly different from the last.

If you are looking for something more exotic, then places like:

offer a completely different atmosphere — tropical anchorages, dramatic scenery, coral reefs, and a more remote feeling overall.

For Caribbean island hopping, we particularly love routes through the Grenadines with departures from Martinique, as well as itineraries connecting Guadeloupe and Dominica in a single week-long sailing vacation.

If you prefer a more cosmopolitan Caribbean atmosphere with French flair, beach clubs, and stylish marinas, then St. Martin and St. Barths are hard to beat.

And of course, there is the classic favorite: the British Virgin Islands.

The BVI remains one of the easiest and most enjoyable sailing destinations in the world, available year-round outside the hurricane season months.

Different destinations suit different travel styles — and helping people find the right experience is a big part of what we do.

“The best yacht charter destination depends less on trends — and more on the kind of journey you want to experience.”

Why not simply list every yacht charter available online?

Because more options do not always create a better experience.

One thing I noticed while working in yacht charter brokerage is that many booking platforms overwhelm people with endless listings, inconsistent standards, and very little guidance.

At YACHT WITH US, we decided to take a more curated approach.

We do not try to list every cabin charter on the market.

Instead, we focus on:

  • trusted fleet operators,

  • well-designed itineraries,

  • maintained modern yachts,

  • reliable crews,

  • and experiences we genuinely believe in.

In other words: less, but better.

That makes the booking process simpler and helps travelers choose with more confidence instead of feeling lost in hundreds of nearly identical options.

“We believe less is more. Curated experiences create better journeys than endless listings.”

What problem are we trying to solve?

At its core, YACHT WITH US was created to make this style of travel feel more approachable, transparent, and understandable.

Not everybody wants a giant cruise ship. Not everybody can justify chartering an entire yacht privately. And not everybody wants a vacation planned around crowded tourist infrastructure.

But many people do want meaningful travel experiences. They want nature. Movement. Connection. Smaller groups. More memorable journeys.

Cabin yacht charters solve many of those problems beautifully — but surprisingly few people know where to start.

That is where YACHT WITH US can help.

Not by trying to become the biggest yacht booking platform online.

But by becoming a trusted place where people can discover a better way to experience the sea.

“We are not trying to sell the most yacht charters. We are trying to help people discover a better way to travel.”

Experience It Once. Return to the Sea.

One thing we hear again and again from guests is this:

“After this trip, normal vacations feel different.”

And honestly, we understand why.

There is something special about waking up on the water. About watching islands appear on the horizon over breakfast. About ending the day anchored in a quiet bay far from crowded hotels and beach resorts.

Many guests return again and again — just in different parts of the world each time.

The sea has a way of pulling people back.

And that is exactly the feeling YACHT WITH US was built around.

“The sea has a way of pulling people back.”
